binary option trading stories Although Obama did not physically drop the mic after giving his final State of the Union speech (though some videos may make you believe he did, see below), his punch-line delivery was undoubtedly the metaphorical equivalent.

To shut down those who have criticized his economic policies, Obama reminded the American people that since the economic crash of 2008, the economy has made a great comeback, citing “the longest streak of private sector job creation in history,” continuing, “those who say that America’s economy is in decline are pedaling fiction.”

Perhaps remembering the political deadlock which plagued his terms over such legislation, Obama urged the American people to try to “reignite that spirit of innovation,” recalling that “60 years ago when the Russians beat us into space, we didn’t deny Sputnik was up there, we didn’t argue about the science, or shrink our research and development budget, we built a space program overnight and twelve years later we were walking on the moon.”

“If you doubt America’s commitment, or mine, to see that justice is done, just ask Osama Bin Laden,” Obama said.

Obama finished however by focusing on the tremendous work that individual Americans must yet undertake and the responsibility that lays before us.

“What I’m suggesting is hard,” the President said. “It’s a lot easier to be cynical; to accept that change is not possible, that politics is hopeless and the problem is that all the folks who are elected don’t care and to believe that our voices and our actions don’t matter. But if we give up now then we forsake a better future.”

Now as the primaries are ongoing and we are starting to get a glimpse of who is going to be running for each party, it’s up to us to vote and not let Obama’s mic drop be the end of the changes Obama worked so hard to implement.
